Just spent the week down at the folks house in Devon. Ran away from the flat and Manchester for a bit to clear my head, assess what to do next and stay away from the computer. None of which really worked as I am still confused, have no idea what I am doing and connected every day for hours on end.
Took the opportunity to get Lara looked at and MOTd while I was down here, thanks to my lovely brother. Lara failed first time but Sy put her back on track and I have just returned from the garage with a nice signed bit of documentation to keep her on the road for another year. Will need to sell her shortly though, but for the time being she’s good. Sy kept enticing me with nice Saabs, mmm, tasty.
Have agreed to do a website for Sy’s work, will have to get stuck into that when I get back up North. Should keep me out of trouble anyway.
Saw nanna and grandad for lunch yesterday, then dad and I took Melly out for a spin as she is learning to drive. Popped down to the petshop and bought 5 new fishies for her tank. I chose a little orangey-pink blotchy platie, need to think of a name for her/him but am waiting to see if it tells me his/her name first. Drove around a touch on the moors out by Yelvy. Mel thought that it looked horrid at the moment, all brown and nasty where the bracken is dying off. Looked great to me.
Nicky came back from holiday on Friday and found gossip central. I popped out to the farm on Saturday when she realised I was down and filled her in on all that has happened lately. She seemed shocked, thought I was an imposter. We decided to drive out to Plymouth to see Greggle and Gemma so while she took FOREVER to get ready (Good god woman where’s your fast forward button?) I settled down amongst the farm stink and dogs and foster kids to watch the rugby. England vs Australia, 31-32 to us, great game.
Finally made it into Plymouth and ended up in Legends. UGH. You really needed alcohol to take the edge off that place, unfortunately I was driving so was totally sober. Twas made bearable by the fact that they kept having powercuts and the dodgy rock/Heavy Metal would suddenly be quelled for several minutes. Greggle and Gemma weren’t very talkative either which was a shame, don’t get to see them much. Left early, mainly because I had to drive Nicky home to Bawcombe, then tootle back to my place after. Spent the journey desperately trying to think of the name of a band and track on one of the tapes Vile did. Bugged us so much I just HAD to dial up and ask him when I got home so I could text Nicky and let us both sleep easy. (Sonic Youth – Kool Thing)
What else? Hmm, for his site Sy took me around to all the workshops to take some photos. That was fun.
Got terrified by Sy driving to the pub to pick Melly up after work. I trust him completely, but the thought of another Sy racing down the lanes in the opposite direction made me nervous. Decided that I’d let him have a drink or two and had fun driving his Saab home again myself. yay!
Flame wars on ActionScripts got personal, apparently I am “just fugly, […] have absurd pink hair, and […] look about 15 years old and […] talk like it…” *giggles* ho hum
Had lots of excruciatingly embarassing moments with Sy, Mel and the parents re my trip to Atlanta. And they wonder why I didn’t want to show them my photos?!! I got teased relentlessly all the way through when I eventually did. Though the first night sat around the dining table was the worst.
Atlanta trip in process of being written up, must finish that when I get back. Everything from Friday onwards is a bit of a blur though, don’t remember much about what happened when. *grin*
Have to head back up to Manchester in a couple of hours, I have a ticket to see the Alabama 3 tomorrow evening. So far it looks like I’ll be going on my own. I’m going to have fun though dammit! Wish Rebecca wasn’t on holiday, she thinks they are great too.
Right, must go wash the car and get the yucky farm off her now. She’s disgusting at the moment, and I just noticed that she has great big dirty dog prints across her too. Thanks Jake?!!
