Monday 30th December
Woah! Woke up feeling much more alert and wanting to make the most of the last day of Bill’s visit. Got our shit together pretty quickly and headed off into town for some serious shopping. Oldham Street being the location of choice one again, and in particular Magma, but first we had to find somewhere to eat.
This proved to be tricky. Night and Day weren’t serving, so we tried Bar Centro. No joy there. Finally we ended up at Simple and had a fantastic and very civilised lunch. Yum.
Took our time there, then headed over back to the design book shop.
Dammit, Bill practically drooled over every book I ALMOST bought him for Christmas then chickened out of, finally deciding to purchase the Eboy book I had ALMOST decided on himself. Damn I suck. I KNEW it would be perfect, but had convinced myself that he’d already have it. I really must stop thinking so hard about such things.
He also bought a cool book with fab pictures of Cheap Hotels for his sister as a thank you for looking after his doggy while he was away.
We then did a tour of Afflecks, had to really, one of Manchester’s alternative highlights. Bill decided it was much better than Atlanta’s Junkman’s Daughter. It so IS!
Explored practically every corner of Afflecks and got terrifed by their Santa Claus.
Dragged Bill into Cyberdog, just because. He had to at least experience it.
Should have gone home to clean the flat at this point but wanted to prolong our remaining time together as long as possible, and besides, I had to show Bill the nicer parts of town too, so we strolled down to Exchange Square in search of coffee. Whiled away the evening rather nicely sprawled on the sofa seating in one of the bars along that way. Lots of snuggles too, mmm. Not quite as snuggly as the coffee bar in Atlanta, but certainly less pensive and tense.
Finally had to pull ourselves away from town and head back to the flat for a grand clean up. I have no idea what I would have done without Bill’s help. We stayed furiously cleaning til about 4 I think, with a little break for delivery pizza and a quick trip to the 24hr supermarket at 1am to restock on cleaning products. Bill tackled the cooker and did a fine job. I was most impressed. THANK YOU!!!
When we did crawl into bed we got a call from a very drunk Melly to tell me that she had stolen my Violent Femmes tape. Cheers girl! Sy had to forcibly take the phone from her and apologised profusely!
Three hours later and it was time to get up again to take Bill to the airport! *WAIL!!!*
