Had a frustrating morning at work today as I arrived all prepared after a weekend of making sure I had covered myself for meeting a deadline on several of the illustrations I’m doing, only to sit around unable to progress as nobody I needed to confer with was around. Great.

Managed to sort things out in the end and spent the rest of the day pushing pixels until my eyes fell out. In between which I enjoyed a nice lunch with Viley at Figo. That’s a pasta restaurant and so I had a delicious zucca, which is butternut squash ravioli with a creamy sauce. Slightly ruined by the dubious looking plate it was served on as there was the remains of what looked like paper towels and a greasy fingerprint on it. Being a combination of too polite and too ravenous I did my best to ignore this though. Wasn’t as bad as that time I’d been enjoying a Mushroom Dansak at the Royal in Rusholme and lifted the naan for my last mouthful only to find a very pubic looking hair lurking beneath.

Anyhow, this evening we arrived back at the house to love on our two very happy and playful dogs and after a little recuperation went to the rec for some ping pong. After some furious warm up I played a match with Bill, and for the first time almost won a game from him. Got him to deuce twice and then in true Kay fashion, blew it. Bill then won every game, what a rotter.

Caught up with the Stanley Cup on our return and sadly saw my ice hockey team defeated by Tampa Bay. Booo Hissss. Bah humbug. Poor little ginger Canadians. It was a very good game though, with the Calgary Flame fighting and clawing for the puck (and the other team) til the last second. Just like last year I wish they would show more hockey on public tv (we don’t have cable), we just get enough to get the appetite going again and then it’s over for another year. Poop.

Eyes still feel like they are going to fall out so time to put Ed to bed and then snuggle up myself. Sweet dreams all.

I’m sorry Calgary didn’t win… they played well and I really thought they would… (*whispers* Go Tampa!!!) World Cup hockey starts in August, with Kiprusoff, Nieminen and Lydman (Calgary) and Kari Lehtonen (Thrashers) all on the Finnish team. Go Finland!
