Ooops, I wanted to put up the photos of my new haircut so I could show Mum and Dad before they went to bed. Hence the preceding LJ entry was text less.
Okay, so quite obviously I went to the hairdresser on Saturday. I was so excited about the prospect of going out on the town I decided to pull the trigger and find a random salon to try. I did an online search and found Salon Red, voted top Atlanta salon by Creative Loafing 2002 and decided to investigate. A decent website, followed by the discovery that the Candler Park location was situated directly behind the Flying Biscuit Co, one of Bill’s favourite places to pick up some scones for breakfast, clinched the deal.
I phoned up half an hour before closing expecting them to have no appointments for the next day, and was instead pleasantly surprised. Splendid.
Nine fortyfive the next morning a trepidous Kay drove over to Candler Park with Bill in tow and presented herself to be shorn. My stylist was a guy called Cody and he did a great job, put me at ease and together we discussed what could be good before he started. He was very enthusiastic when I tentatively described what I was thinking, and then made the idea even better by suggesting he razor cut my locks. He’d just come back from a course or something in New York where they’d been experimenting with this technique and was keen to try it out.
Was very happy when I left the salon, and, in fact I think I’ve noticed a trend. Whenever I’ve had a bloke do my hair I’ve found the stylist to be so much nicer, engaging and the results much less distressing.
Before I left I also signed up to use their online booking system as I always seem to have an issue dealing with hairdresser’s receptionists and booking appointments with a particular person. (Always feel like shuffling around and looking at my shoes when wanting to ask for the cheapest stylist but actually saying “I don’t mind who I see”! Gah I suck.) Online booking should be perfect for silly Kay!
Bill picked me up afterwards and then dropped me off in Little Five Points so that I could wander around the shops and find something to wear to the Siouxsie gig that evening. He couldn’t accompany me as he had to go back to look after Gingernuts as he was on anti-stitch-attack duty. I had a nice time meandering and looking at the pretty things, but failed totally on my quest.
Still, when I got home and reinvestigated my wardrobe, looking for anything funky that I don’t wear in to the office, I rediscovered a fab pink dress that Nicky bought me for Christmas. Hoorah! A pretty party dress to swirl around in. I’m a princess!
Am embarrassed to say I then spent the rest of the afternoon having a little nap with the Gingernuts so that I had a chance of actually staying awake through Siouxsie’s performance that evening! Getting old! 🙁
Okay, time to go to the StarBar for drinkies with Bill now! Siouxsie update will just have to be tomorrow then.
Oh, while I’m still on the totally self obsessed hair entry, I actually redyed it using Burgundy Wine Special FX so it’s even more lovely and purply red since those pics were taken on Saturday Night. Hoorah for having purple stained bathroom walls, towels and bedding!! *looks innocent*
