The Community of Reynoldstown

The Reynoldstown community is located in Fulton County Atlanta, Georgia. Situated in a prime location, about a mile and a half from downtown Atlanta, it is home to many commercial, religious and individual buildings, which help define the community. Historically, Reynoldstown is significant because the neighborhood reflects the larger historical pattern of African-American settlement in the city of Atlanta. African-Americans have been living in Reynoldstown since the 1860’s, when freed slaves came to Atlanta in search of jobs. The Reynoldstown neighborhood contains many examples of architectural styles common to the early part of this century. Many of the homes were built in the Craftsman Folk Victorian, and Shotgun styles. Many of these buildings remain as they were originally constructed.”
