Porker

This week marks the thirtieth week of my pregnancy. I’m now on the homeward stretch and doctors visits have been bumped up to every two weeks.

All in all I’ve been feeling pretty good, although I had to have a couple of days at home this week as I just felt I needed a bit of a break as we’d been pretty hectic lately. Haven’t had any real back pain or anything to complain of, yet, just been feeling quite heavy and a little sore in the tummy sometimes.

I did have a surprise nosebleed over my noodles while we were out eating the other night, but this is apparently quite normal and simply a case of the membranes in my nose giving a little under the pressure of all the extra blood in my body at the moment. (Blood pressure is normal at 108/70)

This morning Bill and I went to the OB GYN to see and be introduced to the last of the three doctors who share the practice in case my own doctor is off duty on delivery day. Once there I had a bit of a shock when it turns out that I’ve apparently gained 8lbs in two weeks. EIGHT POUNDS!! I believe I’m supposed to be gaining one pound a week at this stage and that is considered to be a lot! I’m a little taken aback. I think she said I’ve gained forty pounds in total so far…yikes!

oink. oink.

I’ve not been eating excessively, honest! I have been told I need to exercise more, and to try not to repeat that gain when I see Dr Johnston as she’s apparently quite strict and I will get a lecture.

I’m wondering if this is a result of not having a proper kitchen this month? Without an oven we’ve had to do a lot of eating out, and although my portions haven’t been huge and I’ve been trying to choose sensible meals, maybe this food is just terribly bad and piling on the pounds?

Thankfully we went shopping for a new oven on Tuesday night and are having one delivered tomorrow. That’s exciting, and I’m looking forward to being able to cook up some more healthy food again. Bill will be upset though as I guess I’d better lay off the cookies and brownies in favour of baked potatoes and lentil casseroles!

EIGHT POUNDS!! That’s practically the weight of an entire baby I’ve gained in two weeks. Not happy.

    Hey now

    Dont worry!

Pregnancy is not supposed to have rules and so what if you have gained eight pounds? The baby might have had a growth spurt or yes indeed you might have accidentally eaten more due to USA-sized takeaway portions but to be honest… Let them talk!

As long as you’re healthy then who cares? I’m sure the doctor would be worried if you’d not put on enough and they would have a lecture ready for that instance, too.

I think that its quite mean to make you worried and tell you off when you’re at your most vulnerable and feeling emotional. Stand up for yourself!!! You’re the one having the sprog and so there. Don’t get bullied by some officious person in a white coat.

Of course you’ll be able to cook nice healthy food now, so they can get lost!!!

Keep smiling and glowing, you. 🙂

Keep your chin up, your weight is bound to yo-yo, but this is perfectly normal! xxx

Thanks Nolly, I am just concerned really because I don’t want a big baby! It has to get out of my tummy somehow! Yikes!

I just hope it’s not a trend. I’ve still got another 9 weeks to go so if I carried on gaining wait at that rate I’ll soon be monstrous! *does Godzilla impression and stomps around the room*
