Thursday was a very exciting day. Mary came round to start work on Sam’s room. Armed with her swatch book she pulled out the bedding I’d bought in the UK and soon we were at Lowes buying gallons of paint. Mere hours later the nursery was painted. Painted a very scary violent green (chartreuse). Painted, top to bottom in fact. Mary was grinning and I was wondering what on earth Bill was going to say when he got home!
He was indeed somewhat shocked when he entered the room, but had utmost faith in his sister’s talent and knew that she would pull it all together perfectly.
The next day I had to go into work with Bill to help him get everything together for a deadline. We left early in the morning and didn’t get back to the house until gone eight. A thoroughly exhausting day, and of course this meant we didn’t get to see Mary.
When we got home we were quite excited to see what magic she’d been working and together we walked into the nursery with our eyes tightly shut. When we opened them we were amazed. The room’s really looking terrific.
There are giraffes, hippos, monkeys and a very blue elephant gallivanting all over the walls! We can also make out places where other animals seem to be waiting to emerge from the paintwork too. It’s a delight.
I think Mary is coming back to continue her piece de resistance tomorrow and I just can’t wait to see it continue to evolve into a masterpiece.
