Feeling much less stressed today. Yesterday I had to take Genghis to the vets for his annual rabies jab and so had an excuse to have a lie in. This then turned into a day off and I made the most of my much needed break by having some jolly good snoozes. I did also manage to do a little bit of work from home in the afternoon, but as this was done on my laptop, whilst in bed with my feet up, I was much more comfortable.
Bill came home and we decided to go out for a curry in Little Five Points and pop into the Star Bar to say hello to Jim whilst it was early, uncrowded and not thick with smoke. Been wanting to see how he’s doing for ages now but not really been able to as we’ve been so busy and haven’t wanted to take Sam into such a smoky environment. Shame as hanging out on karaoke night was always fun and there have been quite a few nights I’d have liked to have gone to. Jim looks really good and it was great to catch up, albeit briefly, before we went down the street to eat.
This morning saw us grab breakfast at Wafflehouse before going to investigate fridge freezer options. We had quite a shock in store for us when we discovered how expensive those things are. We thought we’d been extravagant with the cooker and considered that a major purchase, didn’t dream that a fridge freezer would be more expensive again! Saying that, there are affordable freezers out there, they just won’t fit into our kitchen. Our main problem is that our kitchen is so small we wouldn’t be able to open the doors on the cheaper models! The best solution is a french door model, and those don’t come cheap. After traipsing up, down, and across Atlanta we returned home to consider our predicament and come to terms with the fact that a new appliance is going to cost us at least a grand, probably more…ouch!
The afternoon I then spent in bed flaking out and feeling very hot and uncomfortable. Oh, forgot to mention that this morning I could barely put my shoes on my feet were so swollen! I also got very amused and somewhat freaked when I noticed I’ve started to leak colostrum, I knew this was likely to happen but I wasn’t prepared for the colour,..it is vibrant! It matches our very yellow-orange bedsheets perfectly. It also reminded me of the colour Atlanta is turning right now as the annual pollen layer settles across the city. I feel like I’m pollenating along with the plants.
Eventually I pulled myself together and Bill and I headed into the office to get a few hours of work done. After which, we treated ourselves to a most amazing ice cream on the way home. Yummy!
After such a flakey day I seemed to suddenly switch into gear this evening and have only just settled down again. Managed to get quite a bit done around the house, albeit at pregnant Kay snail pace. It’s still a complete dump, but some progress has been made. Yup, feel much better right now.
Tired now, goodnight.
