could Sammy come early?

I’ve just got back from my visit to the doctors with Bill. I had my Strep B culture taken, but have to wait until next visit to hear the results. The exam wasn’t too bad at all, though poor Bill had to sit through it, he’ll have to get used to that on delivery day though.

While she was poking around down below she also investigated the state of my cervix. It is currently 2.5 cm dilated and 50% effaced. This means that things are underway. She described me as percolating nicely, and said she’d be very surprised indeed if I made it to my due date.

She also said that Sam is head down and ready to go. She was even able to touch his head with her fingers. Totally explains the pains I’ve been feeling in my pelvis over the last week, he must be quite low and pressing down heavily.

While I was on the table with my tummy exposed Sam did a very obvious barrel roll for Bill and the doctor, was quite impressive for Bill to finally see the craziness Sam does in my tummy. Every time Sam makes moves like that he seems to miss it. Bill also got to hear his heart beating again, he’s not been able to come with me for the past few visits so has missed out lately.

Apparently I was also in the middle of a contraction as she examined me, though I really can’t tell the difference between that and a Sam wriggle.

Surprise, surprise, one week without a fridge freezer and my weight goes through the roof again. I gained 4lbs in seven days. Not good. The doctor wasn’t too worried though as she said that the weight isn’t on Sam as he seems to be a good size and my uterus is on target, so all the extra baggage will be on me, mainly my bum and thighs by the looks of it. She also reassured me by saying that it might even be mostly water retention exacerbated by all the added salt in takeaway food. Either way, I can’t wait to take delivery of the new fridge and get back to a more healthy diet.

Blood pressure and everything else was good so no worries there.

Driving back to the office and thinking about Sam’s imminent arrival I burst into tears. Can’t wait to meet our baby. Though, the thought of him coming sooner than expected has me in a minor panic.

So, time to place your bets on Sam’s birthday, Dad’s made the first pick already:

kandm_downes: ii’ll cast the runes and let you know
kandm_downes: my runes say……..
kandm_downes: no don’t believe them
kandm_downes: i’ll throw them again and scatter the sheep intestines higher this time….
kandm_downes: my runes and intestines say……….this time….
pinkaboo_uk: maybe Molly could bark a chant over them to help?
kandm_downes: still don’t believe them
kandm_downes: she is chanting
kandm_downes: oh forgot..these are in siderial time
kandm_downes: that’s better…my runes and sheep’s floppy bits say……
kandm_downes: 19th
pinkaboo_uk: hehe
kandm_downes: marked on calendar
kandm_downes: believe me…….thats the day girl

    19th April eh?

Did you know that the 19th April 1775 was the start of the American War of Independence against Britain when fighting began at Lexington and Concord? Doesn’t sound very cordial to me!
    Did Britain win?

    Bithdays and cannons

Samuel could have lots of birthdays just like Queen Lizzie, you know a proper one..then a ceremonial one. I could fire the cannons..please let me fire the cannons..I’d be very good at that..I’ve done it before. Did I tell you about the big bang I made in Norhumberland?…. up by Hadrian’s wall it was. It didn’t half make the sheep jump.
