very negative

Hoorah! I got the results back for my Strep B culture and I’m in the clear having tested negative for the bacterial infection. So, no being hooked up to antibiotics at the birth for me. I’m very happy about this.

I’m not so happy, however, about the new fridge. When we went to put all our tasty groceries in it the other night it started beeping at me and flashing an error code. It then totally defrosted and has ruined all my purchases. I’d bought some frozen meals to have for lunch while I’m home alone and they are now all ruined, and I’ve had to throw away another round of yogurts. I might have given the yogurts the benefit of the doubt nine months ago, but being pregnant I really couldn’t take the risk. I’m so frustrated and annoyed.

I emailed Sears to try to get some help and was very angry when the first email I got back was subscribing me to their email list, despite my ticking the box that said not to add me. Hours later I got an email from their customer service department informing me that I could buy a copy of the manual for $28, and not giving a hint as to how I could get the fridge working.

I eventually navigated the automated phone system which didn’t have any option that seemed to cover my reason for calling and after going slowly mad being on hold for ages I got through to a lady who told me that the filter needed replacing! I was a little taken aback and getting quite upset by this point as we’d only just taken delivery so why on earth should it need a new filter? I’m also feeling that I’m really not looking after Sam very well nutrition wise at the moment and this is freaking me out. I almost broke down on the phone and when Bill got home from work he found me tears and not is a very good state.

Anyway, we unplugged the fridge and tried to reset it again. This time it seemed to start doing its job and freezing back up again. Relieved, we went to bed hoping that it was just playing up as a result of us not having the manual, only to discover the error message was back and flashing in the morning. *cry*

We now have a repairman coming out to see what’s up on Monday morning now. On the one hand I hope there isn’t anything wrong with the unit, but on the other I hope it’s not us just being useless because we don’t know how to operate the stupid thing. I’m so fed up. I do not expect to spend over a grand and a half on a fridge freezer and for it to play up like this. Not on.

    You don’t get that problem with Italian freezers. Methinks that your freezer has taken appliance of science too far! Hope the repairman can sort it out on Monday.

    Good news re the culture tests. ETA still on for the 19th?
