After months of threatening to walk and weeks of teasing us while at Ashridge I am proud to report that Bea finally properly really truly walked today. She was holding a little board book in her hand and decided to stand up in the middle of the front room. She hesitated a little, pondered upon her book, turned a page or two and then took a couple of steps. Just like that. Another little page examination and then she was off again. Step step step. Ever so matter of fact. There was no delight or recognition of achievement on her face at all. Eight perfect little steps across the room while she toyed with the prize between her fingers, and then time for a sit down again. Well, we’re impressed with you Baby Bea!
Sam is more delighted than Baby Bea is with her new skills. When she stands up he calls out “Look! Baby Bea is standing!” Now that he has seen her walk he has taken to coaching her. I’ve found him trying to pull her up to a stand and then back off across the room. “C’mon Baby Bea!” he invites as he holds his arms out to her!
Bea is enjoying having her walking toys back again now we are home. She has a couple of wheeled toys that she can push but her favourite seems to be a little hand me down wooden push cart that would have originally carried a cargo of wooden blocks. She likes to push it across the room at a furious pace. Daddy was saying that when I was out running he and Sam were having a fun time egging Bea on and playing with her. He was at one end of the room and Sam at the other. Bea would push her little red trolley over to Sam and then carefully he’d help turn her around and send her back across the room to Daddy again. Very cute.
