Thursday 26th December
Bill’s first Boxing Day it seems. Awwww.
Today we had planned to have a day of firing rockets on the moors, but when we got up the weather was dismal, rainy and windy. Not good rocket weather. Also mum and dad were nowhere to be found.
As a consequence we were really lazy and lounged around snuggling most of the morning until Mel and Sy emerged and Mel made the most delicious pancakes for breakfast/lunch. Introduced Bill to pancakes with sugar and lemon. My favourite, but I don’t think he was too impressed! Thanks though Mel, they were the best.
Didn’t take Bill long to nab Sy’s laptop and start playing the Italian Job game we gave him for Christmas:
Also had a fair few games of Bishi Bashi on the PlayStation. I whupped Bill’s arse every time! Go me! Did a little victory dance. Muahahahaha
Mum and Dad arrived home and as the weather appeared to have improved they decided we would go up onto the moors and see if rockets could be fired. SY grabbed his RC cars and we piled into the cars. Dad took us up to where he used to take me when I was learning to drive so I could practice reversing around a corner in peace.
By the time we got there though it was too windy again so Mum and Mel sat in the car while Dad and Sy tinkered with the RC cars. I battled with Bill and tried to push him into a huge puddle. He grabbed me and swung me over his shoulder though. Bah humbug. Did manage to land a punch on his jaw and nose when he was teasing me about not being able to punch or get past his blocks. Ha! That showed him!
Quite a clear day as it was windy so when we got back into the car dad suggested we took Bill on a little sightseeing tour of some of the local area. Mel is learning to drive so it was great for her to follow on behind and get more practice in. Took a round tour of Pork Hill (where nanna’s ashes are scattered), Dartmoor Prison, Princetown and Burrator Reservoir. Pointed out all the points of interest like neolithic stone circles as we went.
Had tea with the folks then popped around to Nicky’s to deliver a couple of thank you gifts for letting us stay at the cottages. Sat in front of the fire and chatted for a bit and Bill made friends with the farm mutts and tried more chestnuts.
Lynsey showed us her amazing photos from the trip to Australia she did with her sister Hayley. Woah! She has nerve, she must have done every possible scary and cool activity while she was there. Great photos to prove it too!
Oh, btw, apparently Lynsey is most upset that she didn’t get Bill on her pogo stick while he was visiting!
Headed back home and spent the rest of our last evening in Tavy with my family.
